ABOUT BOB BEAMON

"Beamonesque," a term included in Merriam-Webster's dictionary, describes an athletic feat so extraordinary that it defies previous standards. The word was coined after American long jumper Bob Beamon’s astonishing leap of 29 feet, 2½ inches (8.90 meters) at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics—shattering the existing world record by an unprecedented 22 inches (55 centimeters).

Born and raised in Evansville, Indiana Don Mattingly played his entire 14 year Major League career from 1982 - 1995 with the New York Yankees. The 1985 AL MVP served as the New York Yankees 14th Captain from 1991 - 1995. Currently, Don is the Bench Coach of the Toronto Blue Jays.
