ABOUT DON MATTINGLY

Born and raised in Evansville, Indiana Don Mattingly played his entire 14 year Major League career from 1982 - 1995 with the New York Yankees. The 1985 AL MVP served as the New York Yankees 14th Captain from 1991 - 1995. Currently, Don is the Bench Coach of the Toronto Blue Jays.

The word was coined after American long jumper Bob Beamon’s astonishing leap of 29 feet, 2½ inches (8.90 meters) at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics—shattering the existing world record by an unprecedented 22 inches (55 centimeters).
