WINNING COLORS (1985–2008)

Registered as roan but actually a striking gray with a bold white blaze, Winning Colors etched her name in racing history in 1988 by defeating the colts in a front-running victory in the Kentucky Derby — becoming one of only three fillies ever to capture the Run for the Roses. Trained by D. Wayne Lukas and ridden by Gary Stevens, she went on to be named Champion Three-Year-Old Filly, securing her place among the legends of Thoroughbred racing.
