Ruffian (1972-1975), Nearly jet black in color and massive in size, Ruffian was the equine version of a Greek goddess. Her dominating performances throughout 1974 and 1975 earned her the title of American Champion Filly at both the age of two and three. Ruffian’s spectacular undefeated career ended when she tragically broke down in a match race against Kentucky Derby winner Foolish Pleasure.
