RACHEL ALEXANDRA (2006– )

A radiant chestnut filly distinguished by her bold white blaze, Rachel Alexandra captured the imagination of the racing world during her legendary career. In her three-year-old campaign, she dominated the Kentucky Oaks with a 20¼-length victory and then stunned the sport by defeating Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird in the Preakness, becoming the first filly in 85 years to achieve that feat. Trained by Steve Asmussen and ridden by Calvin Borel, she earned Horse of the Year honors in 2009, securing her place among the greatest Thoroughbreds of all time.
