ABOUT BOB BEAMON
"Beamonesque," a term included in Merriam-Webster's dictionary, describes an athletic feat so extraordinary that it defies previous standards. The word was coined after American long jumper Bob Beamon’s astonishing leap of 29 feet, 2½ inches (8.90 meters) at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics—shattering the existing world record by an unprecedented 22 inches (55 centimeters).
